Traveloka data shows ‘Double Day’ is shaping travel booking behavior among Vietnamese and regional travelers

Traveloka has released its latest data showing that “Double Day” campaigns are becoming a key factor shaping how travelers across the region plan and book travel services.

According to Traveloka, travel booking behavior is undergoing a clear shift. Travelers are no longer booking spontaneously but are increasingly proactively choosing timing, particularly during Double Day periods, to optimize both cost and experience. This reflects a deeper change in consumer behavior, where travel is increasingly approached like a calculated purchasing decision, based on timing and perceived value.

Data reinforces the trend

This trend gained significant momentum in late 2025, when Vietnamese consumers consistently surged onto the platform during Double Date events, driving a 49% increase in traffic.

To capitalize on this shift, Traveloka optimized its 2026 calendar by increasing the frequency of early-year sales in Q1. Traveloka customers responded in force, with Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam customer bases showing large growth of up to 70% in overall transaction value, proving the massive scale of this new consumer habit.

“Our users have shown that they prefer to plan their travel around meaningful numerical dates, and we aim to accompany them at those moments. By aligning our marketing calendar with this behavior, we not only meet consumer expectations but also deliver real value to them.” – Alex Jung, Chief Marketing Officer at Traveloka.

The data highlights a sophisticated seasonal pivot among Vietnamese users:

  • The Post-Tet Surge: Following the Lunar New Year, demand surged for Northeast Asian destinations, with Japan, South Korea, China, and Taiwan leading the rankings.
  • Domestic Coastal Boom: For domestic travel, Vietnamese users focused heavily on premium coastal getaways. Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc recorded a massive 200% year-on-year growth, driven by travelers using Double Day windows to upgrade their stay experiences.

Double Day is no longer a consumer expectation; it is a behavioral trend that defines the “Savvy Vietnamese Traveler.” As Traveloka continues to redefine its promotional calendar across APAC, it reinforces its position as the platform of choice for those who believe that in travel, as in life, timing is everything.
