Ho Chi Minh City, 1 August 2024 – Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and Traveloka have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly promote Hong Kong as a tourist destination to the Vietnamese travelers through inspirational marketing campaigns and exclusive deals.
The MOU signing ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 1, with the representation of Miss Liew Chian Jia, Regional Director, Southeast Asia of Hong Kong Tourism Board, and Mr Iko Putera, CEO of Transport of Traveloka. According to the latest HKTB report, Vietnam has shown an impressive 100% increase in the number of tourists visiting Hong Kong in the first six months of 2024 compared to the same period last year. This increase underscores the growing appeal of Hong Kong’s tourism offerings among Vietnamese travelers. The signing ceremony marks a significant milestone in elevating the travel experience for Vietnamese tourists and contributes to promoting Hong Kong as an attractive tourist destination, showcasing the city’s unique cultural features.
The MOU focuses on joint efforts to promote Hong Kong in the Vietnamese market. This would be done by sharpening the targeting of the audience through the sharing of insights and data, the introduction of new Hong Kong products and experiences on the Traveloka platform, and organizing content development and marketing communications to promote Hong Kong destinations. The aim is to meet Vietnam’s growing outbound demand and boost Hong Kong tourism.

Therefore, we are optimistic that this collaboration will strengthen Hong Kong’s popularity in the market and marks an exciting step in enriching travel experiences for Vietnamese travelers.”
Mr Iko Putera, CEO of Transport, Traveloka also expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration with HKTB, stating “We recognize the significant potential for Hong Kong to become a sought-after outbound tourist destination for Vietnamese travelers. Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance
Every Mid-Autumn Festival, the quaint neighborhood of Tai Hang comes alive as a glowing dragon – carried by over 300 performers – dances through the streets for three nights. The 67-meter-long dragon, made of straw and adorned with thousands of burning incense sticks, is a fascinating tradition of Hong Kong dating back to the 19th century, when residents of the then-small Hakka village combated a plague with a fire dragon dance, accompanied by roaring gongs and drums. Today, the Tai Hang Dragon Dance is officially listed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage and continues to draw crowds for the blazing spectacle.
● Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival (late Oct 2024)
Held at Central Harbourfront in October every year, this alfresco festival is a must-visit for food and wine enthusiasts. It offers a taste of a variety of wine and spirits from around the globe, along with delectable local snacks and international dishes against the iconic Victoria Harbour skyline in Hong Kong.
● WinterFest and New Year Countdown Celebration (Nov 2024 – 1 Jan 2025)
Hong Kong New Year Countdown Celebration
Every winter, Hong Kong’s skyline shines even brighter with the WinterFest. The harbourfront of the West Kowloon Cultural District transforms into a spectacular Christmas Town adorned with a giant sparkling Christmas tree and whimsical displays.
To top off the festivities, the Hong Kong New Year Countdown Celebrations will feature a large-scale multimedia light and music show, creating a memorable way to ring in the new year.
● Global Artists Concerts and Music Festivals (Now till year-end)
Hong Kong will be hosting popular Music Festivals like HypeFest Hong Kong and Clockenflap Music and Arts Festival and welcoming several well-known artists worldwide to perform in the vibrant city as part of their global tour.
